History Behind Le Cinq Août
The story behind Le Cinq Août is one filled with passion and personal significance. Founded in November 2010 by Glen Watkins and Tiffany Keenan, this venture originated from a desire for something truly unique. The name itself, Le Cinq Août, meaning the 5th of August in French, holds a special significance as it marks Tiffany's birthday.
Tiffany, with a deep-seated passion for creation, whether it be crafting jewelry, illustrating black art, or designing customized shoes for weddings, was the driving force behind the brand's expansion over the years. What began with custom jewelry and bespoke footwear has evolved into a diverse range of handcrafted products including earrings, bracelets, statement apparel, waist beads, stickers, stationery, wall art, beauty, bath & body products, and more.
However, tragedy struck in February 2022 when Tiffany lost Glen to Covid-19, leaving her devastated and contemplating the future of the business they had built together. Amidst her grief, Tiffany discovered solace in the art of beading, teaching herself the craft as a means of healing and self-expression. This newfound passion reignited her creativity, prompting her to continue the journey they had started together.
In honoring Glen's memory and returning to the essence of Le Cinq Août, Tiffany made the courageous decision to rebrand the business. While some products were discontinued, the core values of love, passion, and uniqueness remained intact. Moving forward, Le Cinq Août focuses on offering handcrafted items such as beaded jewelry, crochet jewelry, black art, tumblers, and custom shoes, all crafted with the same dedication and care that has defined the brand from its inception. Tiffany remains committed to her vision of providing a "Unique Line of Couture," ensuring that each piece carries the essence of her artistry and devotion.
